2015 Houston Firkin Fest Brewery Details

On March 26th, 2015 from 2-6pm, fans of Texas beer can visit Hennessy Park in Houston for an abundant selection of cask conditioned beers from some of the top beer names in Texas.  Here is the full list of breweries attending and a link to obtain tickets is located here:

(512) Bruin dry hopped with 07270
Double Brown
The Bruin is a double brown ale dry hopped with experimental hop 07270. Citrusy and slightly earthy.

(512) IPA dry hopped with super galena
This brew is our classic IPA dry hopped with super galena (high alpha acid). Spicy, black currant, citrus awesomeness.

8th Wonder Brewery

Altmond Joy
Chocolate Coconut Altbier | 4.7% ABV | 26 IBU
We cask conditioned Alternate Universe Altbier with cacao nibs and coconut flesh. Mmmm.

Cream Ale Dry-Hopped with Citra | 5.1% ABV | 24 IBU
We cask conditioned our Dome Faux’m Throwback Cream Ale with a whole lot of Citra hops. Smooth, Crisp, Dank.

Brazos Valley Brewing Co.

Big Spoon
Tres Leches Stout | 6% ABV | 34 IBU
It warmly envelopes you with a comforting vanilla flavor encouraging you to give in to pleasure. Wood chips soaked in Markers Mark whiskey was added to the cask.

Golden Ale dry hopped with Mandarina Bavaria hops
Blonde ale | 5.1% ABV | 22 IBU
Our original brew, the Golden Ale, achieves the perfect balance of Crystal hops and Vienna malt. The cask was dry hopped with Mandarina Bavaria hops.

Brigadoon Brewery & Brew School

Black Plague Ale (Aged on Laphroaig soaked oak spiral and vanilla beans.)
Russian Imperial Stout | 10.75% ABV | 86 IBU
This ale is has been produced in keeping with traditional techniques, which means each firkin produced has its own unique quality and taste. Aged for 5 months the final product marries the sweet dark caramel finish of our Black Plague Ale with the bold, peat smoky taste of Laphroaig Single Malt Whisky. The resulting flavor is a unique ale that adds a wee taste of Scotland to our Russian Imperial Stout. This dark sweet salty caramel ale finishes with a hint of peat and a tad of sea salt spray from the Isle of Islay.

Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.

Blackberry Lenin’s Revenge
Russian Imperial Stout with Blackberry | 9.6% ABV | 50 IBU
The hulking grain bill, featuring roasted barley, creates a smooth mouthfeel. Cascade hops perfectly contradict each other, giving way to the fresh blackberry and floral notes on the front nose, while the Belgian yeast strain provides a bone-dry dark chocolate finish.

Cedar-Aged RIPA
Rye IPA aged on cedar | 7.5% ABV | 70 IBU
Rye IPA aged on cedar with a West Coast style malt bill so the hops take the main stage. Very hop forward. Enough bitterness to keep it an aggressive IPA, with a blend of Australian and American West Coast hops.

Huff Brewing Co.

India Pale Lager | 5.3% ABV | 73 IBU
Overture is a proud and vibrant India Pale Lager, a product of two distinguished historical styles: the German Lager and the English IPA. Playing off strengths from its pedigree, Overture boasts its US-sourced hop bitterness and balances it with a robust malt sweetness. In unison, these otherwise conflicting attributes play well, for both encourage the other — sometimes as companions, sometimes in gasconade — while the drinker enjoys each glass.

Cognac Barrel-Aged Amber Lager | 6.3% ABV | 28 IBU
Troilus begins as an amber lager, carefully crafted using pale and caramel malts with a gentle mix of US and German hops. After its lager is complete, Troilus is aged in cognac barrels for up to 16 weeks, transforming this lager’s character into a blend of distinguished flavors and aromas. Troilus carries this blend into its final serving cask, where its long, frenzied history pours out a velvety body and deep resinous tones.

Three Legged Lab
Imperial Stout | 9.2% ABV | 75 IBU
This inky Imperial Stout pours black into the glass with a brown head. Aroma of roasted grain with a slight hint of licorice. Full bodied with plenty of dark chocolate flavor leads into a long, smooth finish.

Double Dry-Hopped Rodeo Clown DIPA
Double IPA | 9.5% ABV | 85 IBU
Rodeo Clown is a deceptively strong brew. Loads of hops are met with a sturdy malt backbone that provides an unbelievably smooth drinking experience. This cask of Rodeo Clown DIPA was generously dry hopped in cask with Simcoe hops, adding a piney nose to the already dry-hopped brew.

Lone Pint Brewery

Zythophile Equinox
IPA | 6.8% ABV | 57 IBU
Single Hop IPA using Equinox for all hop additions.

Yellow Rose Especial
IPA | 6.8% ABV | 62 IBU
Yellow Rose IPA dry hopped with El Dorado and Habaneros.

New Republic Brewing Co.

Mocha Fire Rooster
Mocha Sriacha Dunkelweizen | 5.2% ABV | 18 IBU
Feathery wheat softly tickles your lips, then bursts into your mouth with chocolate flame. Like Skylight? Like chocolate and coffee? Like Sriacha? How about roosters? Then you’ll like them mixed together and served from a cask. Beer does not contain actual rooster.

Double IPA | 8% ABV | 80 IBU
Plenty of American hop badassery and a mix of sweet, sweet malts to balance the 80 IBUs. Spicy rye and bready Munich malt lend a fantastic compliment to Whipsaw’s dank citrus bitterness. ON CASK!

Pale Ale with Jalapeno, Herbs | 6% ABV | 17 IBU

Gilley’s Blonde dry hopped with New Zealand’s Dr. Rudi hop.

Real Ale Brewing Co.

Full Moon Rye IPA
Rye IPA | 6.2% ABV | 50 IBU
Full moons in the Hill Country are legendary. People literally write songs about them. And Downtown Blanco illuminated by a full moon? Unforgettable. Inspired by that striking view, Full Moon is a new take on our original flagship beer. Malted rye and barley are complemented by generous helpings of Simcoe and Citra hops, resulting in a bold, full-bodied American IPA. Casks are conditioned with an additional Citra dry hop for a bright citrus aroma and flavor.

Real Heavy
Scotch Ale with Heather | 9.7% ABV | 27 IBU
A Scotch ale brewed by metal aficionados could be called nothing else but Real Heavy. Our take on the Wee Heavy style is an imposing malt-forward brew weighing in at 9.7% ABV. It is brewed with English Crystal malt, English hops, and fermented with our house English ale yeast, resulting in a rich brown color and a toffee-accented malt character. Bang your head with a couple of pints of Real Heavy. Casks are aged with dried heather tips adding extra depth to the malt profile.

Bishops Barrel 8 with vanilla, coffee and cocoa nibs
Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout | 11.5% ABV | 29 IBU
This Russian Imperial Stout is a Woodford Reserve bourbon barrel-aged version of Divine Reserve 15. We’ve added some vanilla bean, Java Pura coffee and Tejas Chocolatecocoa nibs to make it a little more firkin delicious.

Endeavour IPA2 dry hopped with Galaxy hops
Double IPA | 8.9% ABV | 76 IBU
We’ve taken our World Beer Cup Silver Medal winning Endeavour IPA2 and dry hopped it with a lot (yes… A LOT) of Galaxy hops. To infinity and beyond!!!
