The 2015 U.S. Open Beer Championship was held recently, and Texas breweries definitely made a strong showing. This blind tasting event features judges and entries from all over the world, but all of the breweries chosen for Top 10 awards were from the U.S.
Two of the top 10 breweries were from Texas; second place went to Lakewood Brewing (Garland), and 8th place went to Pedernales Brewing (Fredericksburg). These rankings were based off of overall points for each brewery with first place votes receiving 10 points, second place received 5, third received 3, fourth received 2, and fifth received 1 point.
