I love canned beer.
I think it keeps the beer fresher, it’s more portable for places like the pool or the river, and when I’m done pouring it I love being able to smash it on my forehead. Ok, maybe not that last part.
Thankfully, more and more craft beer breweries are switching to canned beer, and Saint Arnold Brewing Company continues its canned lineup with its recently released Art Car IPA. What’s pretty special about Art Car is that it will only be released on tap and in cans. It’s the first time the Houston brewery has gone in this direction.
The art on the can is done by local artist, Mario Enrique Figueroa, Jr., aka GONZO247. “I like the combination of the bright flavors of Art Car IPA with the bright graphics that GONZO247 came up with,” said Saint Arnold Founder/Brewer Brock Wagner. “We’ve had a long association with GONZO247 and we gave him free reign to develop a design for this can. Love the results!”
GONZO247’s artwork can also be seen on some of the art cars that were created as part of this beers’ launch. The flavor of Houston resonates in the artwork and the beer itself. As a former graffiti artist, it’s always fun to see this ‘underground’ artwork come to the surface in a commercial way, especially when it’s done for something local.
Originally released in limited quantities for National IPA day, Art Car IPA will now be available on draft, and in 6-packs of 12-oz. cans in Houston and surrounding areas.
